Description

Small Dripleaf is a renewable underwater plant that generates only inside the Lush Caves biome, rooted to clay, moss, and several dirt-type blocks beneath the water surface. Breaking Small Dripleaf drops the item only when shears are used; any other tool or a piston push yields nothing. Hardness and blast resistance both sit at 0, so explosions and creeper blasts clear Small Dripleaf instantly. The wandering-trader trade, a 7 percent chance to sell the plant for one emerald, is what makes Small Dripleaf a renewable resource.

Bone meal converts Small Dripleaf into a Big Dripleaf two to five blocks tall, and the transformation cannot be undone once applied. Builders pair Small Dripleaf with moss blocks and spore blossoms to recreate the lush-cave aesthetic inside artificial ponds and aquarium bases. Small Dripleaf also feeds a composter at a 30 percent chance per item, giving surplus plants a use beyond decoration. Collect Small Dripleaf with shears rather than by hand to avoid losing every plant on the first swing.

Guide

How to obtain Small Dripleaf in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Find a Lush Caves biome

Small Dripleaf generates only inside Lush Caves beneath the surface, so dig down to the underground water pools where azalea roots point the way.

  2. 2

    Spot Small Dripleaf underwater

Look for the short plant growing on clay or moss blocks submerged in the cave pools.

  3. 3

    Equip shears before breaking

Small Dripleaf drops only when shears break it; any other tool destroys the plant with no drop.

  4. 4

Grow a Big Dripleaf with bone meal

Apply bone meal to convert Small Dripleaf into a Big Dripleaf two to five blocks tall for platforms and decoration.

Important

Bone meal conversion is one-way: the original Small Dripleaf is consumed and cannot be recovered.
