Iron Bars
Iron Bars create narrow metal barriers, windows, cages, drains, and fortress details from iron ingots.
Description
Iron Bars block movement but keep clear sight lines: mobs and players cannot pass through the narrow gaps, yet arrows and other projectiles fly straight through them, and light passes too. They are not flammable, need a pickaxe to be mined, and generate naturally as windows in strongholds and woodland mansions. In survival bases they are a cheap way to secure villagers, display dangerous mobs, or add metal trim without rare materials.

How to craft and use Iron Bars in Minecraft
-
1
Craft the iron bars
Fill two full horizontal rows of the crafting grid with 6 iron ingots to get 16 iron bars at once.
-
2
Place and connect them
Place a bar against a wall, floor, or another bar — they auto-connect into straight lines, corners, and crosses like glass panes.
-
3
Build windows and cages
Run bars across an opening for a barred window, or box in an area to make a cell that mobs cannot walk through.
-
4
Mix with glass panes
Alternate iron bars with glass panes to fake leaded windows, or pair them with stone and stone bricks for a fortress look.
Mobs and players cannot pass through iron bars, but arrows, snowballs, and other projectiles fly straight through the gaps, and light passes too. Mine them with a pickaxe — breaking them by hand drops nothing.
