Description

Uranium-235 is the fissile uranium isotope added by the Industrial Craft 2 (IC2) mod and the core fuel component for the IC2 Nuclear Reactor. Uranium-235 is crafted from nine Tiny Piles of Uranium-235 arranged in a 3x3 grid, producing one full unit of the fissile isotope. Players combine Uranium-235 with Uranium-238 and a metal casing inside a crafting table to assemble Fuel Rods, which slot directly into the Nuclear Reactor. Uranium-235 sustains a fission chain reaction in the reactor, generating very high EU/t output but also significant heat that must be absorbed by Coolant Cells, Heat Vents, or external cooling loops. Uranium-235 does not occur naturally as an ore; players must process Uranium Ore through the IC2 enrichment chain or recover it from depleted fuel rods using a Thermal Centrifuge. Uranium-235 is the rarest isotope in the uranium family and represents the long-term fuel investment for any IC2 nuclear setup. Mod authors balanced Uranium-235 around scarcity: a single reactor cycle consumes one full Fuel Rod, so stockpiling Uranium-235 is essential before scaling reactor wattage. Uranium-235 ships in both IC2 Classic and IC2 Experimental, primarily for Minecraft 1.7.10 and 1.12.2.

Guide

How to craft and use Uranium-235 in Minecraft IC2

  1. 1

    Mine and enrich Uranium Ore

Locate Uranium Ore in IC2 worldgen and process it through the Macerator, Ore Washing Plant, and Thermal Centrifuge chain to separate isotopes.

  2. 2

Collect 9 Tiny Piles of Uranium-235

Run the enrichment chain repeatedly until you have at least 9 Tiny Piles of Uranium-235 in your inventory.

  3. 3

    Craft one Uranium-235 unit

Place 9 Tiny Piles of Uranium-235 in a 3x3 crafting grid to produce 1 full Uranium-235 isotope.

  4. 4

    Assemble a Fuel Rod

Combine Uranium-235 with Uranium-238 and an iron or tin casing on the workbench to build a charged Fuel Rod.

  5. 5

    Install in the Nuclear Reactor

Insert the Fuel Rod into the IC2 Nuclear Reactor with adjacent Coolant Cells and Heat Vents, then power the reactor to generate EU.

Cooling reminder

Uranium-235 produces large amounts of heat; without sufficient cooling components the reactor can melt down and destroy nearby blocks.

Frequently asked questions

How do you craft Uranium-235 in IC2?

Place 9 Tiny Piles of Uranium-235 in a 3x3 crafting grid to produce 1 full Uranium-235 isotope.

What is Uranium-235 used for?

Uranium-235 is the fissile fuel component for IC2 Fuel Rods, which power the Nuclear Reactor at very high EU/t output.

Is Uranium-235 found as an ore?

No, Uranium-235 is never an ore; it is extracted from Uranium Ore via the Thermal Centrifuge or recovered from depleted fuel rods.

How is Uranium-235 different from Uranium-238?

Uranium-235 sustains the fission chain reaction inside the reactor, while Uranium-238 is the non-fissile filler used to bulk out fuel rods.

Which Minecraft versions support Uranium-235?

Uranium-235 is part of Industrial Craft 2 Classic and Experimental, mainly for Minecraft 1.7.10 and 1.12.2.
