Iridium is the rarest crafting material in Industrial Craft 2: shards compress into ore, ore forges into plates for QuantumSuit armor and the Iridium Drill.
Description
Every top IC2 recipe leans on Iridium. A full QuantumSuit set alone takes nine plates: two for the Quantum Helmet, three for the Quantum Chestplate, two for the Quantum Leggings, and two for the Quantum Boots. The Iridium Drill adds three more plates to the bill. Each Iridium Neutron Reflector takes one, and an Iridium Storage Box costs four. Because hunting shards in the wild can take days, the official wiki recommends scanning one Iridium in a Scanner and letting a Replicator print endless copies from UU-Matter produced by the Mass Fabricator. That EU-powered loop turns Iridium from a lottery ticket into a steady endgame supply.

Search the Overworld for shards
Explore the Overworld instead of digging blind: iridium appears as individual Iridium Shards rather than ore veins, and the Nether holds none at all.

Check End City loot
Open every chest in an End City when the chance appears: their loot sometimes contains iridium and saves hours of shard hunting.

Compress shards into Iridium Ore
Feed the collected Iridium Shards into a Compressor powered with EU; the machine outputs Iridium Ore, the form the plate recipe requires.

Craft the Iridium plate
Place four Iridium Ore in the corners of a crafting table, four Advanced Alloy on the edges, and one Diamond in the center to produce one Iridium.

Scan and replicate
Scan a spare Iridium in the Scanner, keep the Mass Fabricator producing UU-Matter, and let the Replicator print copies from the stored pattern.
A Macerator grinds Iridium Ore back into Iridium Shards without losing material, and the shards have a second use: the Jetpack Attachment Plate recipe consumes them directly.
