Basic IC2 electric mining tool that mines at iron tier two to three times faster than an iron pickaxe.
Guide
Place five Refined Iron in a Y pattern on the crafting grid to produce one Iron Drill Head, the core component of the IC2 Drill.
Combine one Iron Drill Head on top, one RE Battery in the middle, and one Electronic Circuit on the bottom in a vertical column to craft the IC2 Drill.
Place the Drill into a Batbox, MFE, or MFSU. The Drill accepts Low Voltage (32 EU/t) and stores up to 30,000 EU internally.
Use the Drill on stone and cobblestone for roughly two-to-three-times the speed of an iron pickaxe; each block consumes 50 EU in standard mode.
Right-click the Drill to enable Low Power mode, halving consumption to about 25 EU per block and halving speed — useful when EU is low.
The IC2 Drill cannot mine obsidian; upgrade the Iron Drill Head to a Diamond Drill Head (five Diamonds in a Y pattern) to unlock the Diamond Drill, which mines obsidian.
Place one Iron Drill Head on top, one RE Battery in the middle, and one Electronic Circuit on the bottom in a vertical column. The Iron Drill Head itself uses five Refined Iron in a Y shape.
No, the IC2 Drill mines at iron tier and cannot break obsidian. Upgrade to the Diamond Drill by swapping the Iron Drill Head for a Diamond Drill Head to mine obsidian.
The IC2 Drill consumes 50 EU per block in standard mode and stores up to 30,000 EU internally. Low Power mode roughly halves consumption to about 25 EU per block.
Place the IC2 Drill into a Batbox, MFE, or MFSU. The Drill accepts Low Voltage at 32 EU per tick from any standard IC2 charger.
Right-clicking the IC2 Drill toggles Low Power mode, which halves both EU consumption and mining speed, letting the Drill mine more blocks per charge when energy is scarce.
Yes, the IC2 Drill mines stone and cobblestone roughly two to three times faster than an iron pickaxe while covering the same block tier.
