How to get and use the Heart of the Sea in Minecraft

Find a buried treasure map
Search shipwreck and ocean ruin chests for an explorer map that marks buried treasure with a red X.

Dig up the buried treasure
Follow the map to the X, then dig straight down through sand or gravel to reach the chest holding one Heart of the Sea.

Gather eight Nautilus Shells
Collect Nautilus Shells dropped by drowned or bought from wandering traders to complete the Conduit recipe.

Craft and activate a Conduit
Surround the Heart of the Sea with eight Nautilus Shells, place the Conduit underwater, and frame it with prismarine or sea lanterns to unlock Conduit Power.
The Heart of the Sea has no other recipe use and cannot be crafted — buried treasure is its only source.
