Description

Gold Chest is a 54-slot storage block in the Ala Industrial mod for Minecraft 26.2 (Java Edition) on Fabric or NeoForge — the tier above the Silver Chest (45 slots) and below the Electrum Chest (81). The container needs no energy: Gold Chest is a pure storage block with six rows of nine slots, a whole extra row over silver. The recipe follows the mod's upgrade pattern — put a Silver Chest in the center of a crafting grid and surround it with 8 gold ingots. The chest line runs Iron (36) → Silver (45) → Gold (54) → Electrum (81).

In the world, the Gold Chest renders as a proper 3D chest with an animated lid and its own gold texture; the open and close sound is shared with the Iron Chest (volume 0.42, quieter than the vanilla 0.5). Two Gold Chests placed side by side facing the same way merge into one double chest of 108 slots — different tiers never merge. Hoppers, droppers and item pipes treat the Gold Chest as a normal container, a comparator reads its fullness, and the block can be waterlogged like a vanilla chest. The Gold Chest breaks with any pickaxe (no tier gate), drops itself and spills its contents; hardness is 3.0 and blast resistance is 6.0.

How to craft and use the Gold Chest in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Craft the Gold Chest

Place a Silver Chest in the center of a 3×3 crafting grid and fill the remaining eight cells with gold ingots to get one Gold Chest.

  2. 2

Place it and open the lid

Set the Gold Chest on the ground — it turns to face you — and open it: six rows of nine slots. Shift-click moves whole stacks between the chest and your inventory.

  3. 3

Merge two into a double chest

Place a second Gold Chest directly beside the first, facing the same way, to combine them into one 108-slot container. A chest of a different tier never merges.

  4. 4

Automate and read the fill level

Hoppers and item pipes insert and extract from the Gold Chest like from any normal container, and a comparator outputs its fullness as a redstone signal.

Careful when breaking

The Gold Chest breaks with any pickaxe, drops itself and spills its entire contents — empty the storage before mining it. Each half of a double chest spills only its own items.

Frequently asked questions

How do you craft the Gold Chest in Ala Industrial?

Put a Silver Chest in the center of a crafting grid and surround it with 8 gold ingots. The recipe yields one Gold Chest and works identically on Fabric and NeoForge.

How many slots does the Gold Chest have?

The Gold Chest holds 54 slots (6 rows × 9) — one row more than the Silver Chest. Two Gold Chests placed side by side merge into a 108-slot double chest.

Does the Gold Chest need energy?

No. The Gold Chest is a pure storage block with no energy usage — it is not a machine, and its interface has no energy or progress bars.

Can a Gold Chest form a double chest with a Silver Chest?

No. Different tiers never merge — only two Gold Chests facing the same direction combine into the 108-slot double chest.

Do hoppers and pipes work with the Gold Chest?

Yes. The Gold Chest behaves as a normal container: hoppers, droppers and item pipes insert and extract items, and a comparator can read how full it is.
