Glowstone is a luminous yellow Nether block emitting maximum light (level 15) — the brightest mineable light source in the game.
Description
Mining Glowstone without Silk Touch shatters the block into two to four glowstone dust, with Fortune raising the yield up to the full four. Four dust arranged in a 2×2 grid recreate one Glowstone block, so the resource is modular but lossy without the right enchantment. Beyond lighting, glowstone dust powers redstone lamps and upgrades brewed potions to their level II tier, while the solid Glowstone block forms the chargeable top of a respawn anchor. Silk Touch returns Glowstone intact for zero-loss transport.

Find Glowstone in the Nether
Glowstone grows in bright yellow clusters on the ceilings and walls of the Nether. Carry blocks to bridge up to high clusters safely above the lava.

Mine with Silk Touch to keep the block
Any tool or your bare hand breaks Glowstone, but only a Silk Touch pickaxe drops the full block. Without it you collect 2–4 glowstone dust instead.

Recraft blocks from dust
Place 4 glowstone dust in a 2×2 crafting grid to make one Glowstone block back, recovering full blocks from the dust you mined.

Use it for light and crafting
Place Glowstone as a level-15 light source, or use the dust to craft redstone lamps, charge a respawn anchor, and brew level II potions.
Fortune III still caps Glowstone at 4 dust — exactly one block's worth — so Silk Touch is the only way to move Glowstone without losing material.
