Description

Budding Amethyst cannot be obtained by mining — it drops nothing even with Silk Touch — and exists only inside Amethyst Geodes, the spherical structures that generate underground in the Overworld. Each budding face progresses through four bud stages: small bud, medium bud, large bud, and Amethyst Cluster. Clusters drop four amethyst shards when broken with any tool, or two when broken by hand. Fortune III on a pickaxe does not affect shard drops from clusters.

The growth cycle takes roughly one random-tick per stage, meaning a cluster takes days of in-game time to fully develop. Each face of a budding amethyst block independently grows buds, so a block with all six faces exposed produces buds in all directions. Players build farms by placing budding amethyst underground with pistons or observers to break mature clusters automatically, harvesting shards for tinted glass, spyglasses, and calibrated sculk sensors.
