Vines
Climbable plant that spreads across stone and wood surfaces in jungles and swamps, harvested by shears and placed on any solid block face.
Description
Spread happens one block at a time: an existing vine can extend horizontally to adjacent wall faces or grow a new block downward, eventually reaching the ground. Bone meal accelerates spreading. With shears, vines drop as a collectible item; without shears they vanish. They can be placed manually on any solid block face in all six directions.
A vine block on a ceiling is climbable only when a solid block is directly above the player's position. Because they spread unchecked, containing vines in a controlled build requires periodic pruning or enclosing them behind walled sections. Pistons can push vines, making automated trim farms possible with simple BUD-switch circuits.

How to harvest and place Vines in Minecraft
-
1
Find Vines in the wild
Locate Vines hanging on trees in jungle, swamp, and mangrove swamp biomes, or growing inside lush caves and woodland mansions.
-
2
Harvest with shears
Hold shears and break the Vine block to collect it as an item; breaking Vines by hand or with any other tool destroys them with no drop.
-
3
Place on a solid face
Aim at the side or bottom of a solid block and right-click to attach Vines; they cling to walls and hang from ceilings in all six directions.
-
4
Climb and control growth
Press toward a Vine to climb it like a ladder when a solid block sits behind it, and trim spreading Vines with shears to manage their growth.
Vines are flammable and carry fire quickly across connected blocks, so keep them away from lava, torches, and other fire sources in wooden builds.
