Mossy Cobblestone
Mossy Cobblestone is regular cobblestone overgrown with green vines — the signature texture of dungeons, jungle temples, and old ruins.
Description
The texture overlays the familiar grey cobblestone with thick green vine growth and small lichen patches, suggesting a stone surface that has stood untouched long enough for vegetation to take root. For builders, this is the single most useful material for ageing a build: replace one in five cobblestone blocks in a wall with the mossy variant, and the resulting wall reads as ruin or abandonment without any other change. The full structural set — slabs, stairs, walls — exists, allowing entire ruined dungeons to be built without ever switching back to clean cobblestone.

How to get Mossy Cobblestone in Minecraft
-
1
Gather cobblestone
Mine stone with any pickaxe to collect cobblestone, the base ingredient for the recipe.
-
2
Collect vines
Harvest vines with shears from jungle or swamp trees; one vine is enough for one block.
-
3
Craft the block
Place 1 cobblestone and 1 vine anywhere in the crafting grid to make 1 mossy cobblestone.
-
4
Or mine it naturally
Break mossy cobblestone directly from dungeon walls and jungle temple floors with a pickaxe to keep the block.
Both Java and Bedrock support the cobblestone + vine recipe, and the block only drops when mined with a pickaxe — mining by hand destroys it.
