Description

Stripped Birch Log is a pale, bark-free variant of the birch log obtained by right-clicking a birch log with any axe. The action is irreversible: once the bark is removed, it cannot be restored, so the choice to strip a log is permanent. The block keeps cross-section grain on its top and bottom faces, while the four side faces show the smooth, light-tan inner wood typical of birch.

It is mined fastest with an axe and always drops itself. As a fuel it smelts 1.5 items per block, the same as other logs. Four such logs craft into three stripped birch wood blocks with stripped texture on all six sides, and a single one yields four birch planks. Source trees grow in birch forests and old growth birch forests, and can also be raised from saplings.

Guide

How to Strip a Birch Log in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Locate a Birch Log

Birch Logs spawn naturally in birch forest and old growth birch forest biomes. You can also place one from your inventory to strip it anywhere.

  2. 2

    Equip any axe

A wooden, stone, iron, golden, diamond, or netherite axe all work equally for stripping. Axe quality does not affect whether stripping succeeds or what block is produced.

  3. 3

    Right-click the Birch Log

In Java Edition right-click the log while holding an axe. In Bedrock Edition use the secondary action button. The bark peels off instantly and the block becomes a Stripped Birch Log in place.

  4. 4

    Mine it to collect

Break the Stripped Birch Log with an axe to pick it up. The block always drops itself, and an axe mines it fastest of any tool.

  5. 5

    Craft planks or stripped wood

In any crafting grid, 1 Stripped Birch Log yields 4 Birch Planks. Place 4 Stripped Birch Logs in any 2×2 pattern to craft 3 Stripped Birch Wood blocks with the stripped texture on all six faces.

Tip

Stripping a Birch Log is permanent — the bark cannot be restored once removed. Decide before stripping whether you need the natural birch texture or the clean stripped look for your build.

Frequently asked questions

How do you get a Stripped Birch Log in Minecraft?

Right-click any Birch Log while holding an axe (wooden, stone, iron, gold, diamond, or netherite) to strip the bark and convert the block into a Stripped Birch Log on the spot.

Can you un-strip a Stripped Birch Log?

No — stripping a Birch Log is irreversible in Minecraft. Once the bark is removed, the Stripped Birch Log cannot be converted back to a regular Birch Log.

What can you craft with a Stripped Birch Log?

One Stripped Birch Log yields 4 Birch Planks in any crafting grid. Four Stripped Birch Logs craft into 3 Stripped Birch Wood blocks, which have the stripped texture on all six faces.

Can a Stripped Birch Log be used as fuel?

Yes — a Stripped Birch Log smelts 1.5 items per block in a furnace or blast furnace, the same fuel value as an unstripped Birch Log.

What axe do you need to strip a Birch Log?

Any axe works — wooden, stone, iron, gold, diamond, or netherite. The quality of the axe does not affect whether the log is stripped or what block is produced.

Where do Birch Logs spawn so I can strip them?

Birch Logs generate naturally in birch forest and old growth birch forest biomes. Birch trees can also be grown from birch saplings anywhere with enough light and space.
