Birch Hanging Sign is a pale birch-wood text board that hangs beneath blocks or floats on a self-supporting side bracket, added to Minecraft in Java 1.20 and Bedrock 1.20.0. One crafting-table batch — two Iron Chains in the top corners and six Stripped Birch Logs filling the two rows below — produces six Birch Hanging Signs. Stripped Birch Logs come from using an axe on birch logs, and one Iron Chain is a vertical column of Iron Nugget, Iron Ingot, Iron Nugget. The numbers stay modest: hardness 1, blast resistance 1, an axe breaks the board fastest, and a stack carries 16.

Placement sets the silhouette: under a wide block the Birch Hanging Sign hangs from two parallel chains, and under a narrow block such as an Iron Chain the chains meet in an up-arrow. A side-mounted Birch Hanging Sign rides a solid bracket that needs no support. Using the placed sign opens an editor whose lines run narrower than a standing sign's, fitting fewer characters per line. Dye recolors the text, a Glow Ink Sac makes the text glow until an Ink Sac undoes the effect, and a Honeycomb waxes the sign against any further edits. The bracket stays solid and collidable while the board itself has no collision. Water and lava flow around a Birch Hanging Sign without destroying the board, and waterlogging does not stop the text display.
