Planting four Spruce Saplings in a 2x2 square produces a giant spruce up to 30 blocks tall, yielding roughly four times the wood of a single tree and converting the surrounding grass podzol into a darker variant. Spruce Sapling also works as furnace fuel at a rate of 0.5 items smelted per sapling, so surplus stock from a leaf farm doubles as emergency smelting material. Builders pair Spruce Sapling with podzol paths and cobblestone foundations for classic taiga cabins, and the giant-tree form lets players harvest a full stack of spruce logs from a single 2x2 harvest. Saplings stack to 64, so an entire tree farm fits in one inventory slot.
