Scaffolding
Scaffolding is a climbable temporary building frame made from bamboo and string.
Description
Its biggest advantage is cleanup. Breaking the bottom support causes the connected tower to collapse into items, so large builds can be surrounded by work platforms without leaving permanent junk. It also lets players bridge around roofs, terraform cliffs, or inspect redstone wiring from above. The texture is light and open, so it does not fully block visibility. Bamboo farms make it inexpensive once a survival world is established.

How to use Scaffolding in Minecraft
-
1
Craft the scaffolding
Place 6 bamboo down the left and right columns of a crafting table with 1 string in the center to get 6 scaffolding.
-
2
Set the base on the ground
Put the first scaffolding block on solid ground where you want a vertical work column.
-
3
Stack the tower upward
Hold a scaffolding piece and look at the top of the column to extend it straight up toward the build height.
-
4
Climb and descend
Hold the jump key to rise inside the scaffolding and crouch (sneak) to drop down through it safely.
-
5
Tear it down instantly
Break the bottom block; the entire connected tower collapses into items so the build site stays clean.
Scaffolding extends up to 6 blocks sideways from a supported column. The 7th unsupported block has no anchor and falls like gravel.

Frequently asked questions
How do you craft scaffolding?
Place 6 bamboo in the left and right columns of a crafting table with 1 string in the center. This makes 6 scaffolding at once.
How do you go down scaffolding?
Hold the crouch (sneak) key while standing in the scaffolding to descend safely; hold jump to climb back up.
How far can scaffolding stretch sideways?
Up to 6 blocks horizontally from a supported column. The 7th block has no support and falls like a gravity block.
Is scaffolding available in both Java and Bedrock?
Yes. Scaffolding works in both Java and Bedrock Edition and behaves the same for climbing and quick removal.
Can you remove a whole scaffolding tower quickly?
Yes. Break the lowest scaffolding block and every connected piece above it drops as items in one action.
