Description
Bamboo generates naturally in dedicated jungle subbiomes as dense stands of vertical green stalks, with isolated patches sometimes appearing in regular jungles. Each stem grows from a single ground block and reaches up to sixteen blocks tall over time — faster than any other vanilla plant, completing full growth in just minutes when bone-mealed. Mining yields one stalk item per segment.
The item has multiple roles. As food, it is the only thing pandas eat; players keeping pandas as pets or breeding them in zoos must maintain a steady supply. As crafting input, three stalks plus one string make a fishing rod alternative, two stalks craft into one stick (saving wood for inventories where wood is precious), and six stalks with one string make one scaffolding — the only block in vanilla that can be climbed and stacks placement when the bottom is supported by another scaffold. The plant also smelts as fuel (one item per quarter-item-smelted, weakest fuel). The 1.20 update added a full bamboo wood family — matching block, planks, doors — using stalks as the input material.
