Poppy
Poppy is a red flower of plains and forests that yields red dye and is carried by iron golems as a gift.
Also known as: Rose
Description
The main crafting use is red dye: one poppy placed anywhere in a crafting grid yields one red dye. Red dye is used to color wool, terracotta, concrete powder, glass, shulker boxes, beds, and leather armor. Combining poppy with a bowl, a red mushroom, and a brown mushroom creates suspicious stew with the night vision effect.
Iron golems exhibit a unique behavior: they sometimes hold this flower and offer it to nearby baby villagers, making it a symbolic part of village life. This behavior is cosmetic and does not consume or drop the flower. Bees pollinate it during foraging flights, contributing to honey production. The item fits in a composter for composting progress.

How to get and use a Poppy in Minecraft
-
1
Find poppies in the wild
Look in plains, sunflower plains, meadows, and most forest biomes for the bright red single-block flower growing on grass.
-
2
Collect the flower
Break the poppy with any tool or your bare hand. It pops off instantly and always drops one poppy item.
-
3
Grow more with bone meal
Apply bone meal to a grass block near an existing flower to scatter extra poppies and other small flowers around it.
-
4
Craft red dye
Place one poppy anywhere in the crafting grid to get one red dye, used to color wool, terracotta, glass, beds, and leather armor.
Until Java Edition 1.7.2 this flower was called the Rose; it was renamed to Poppy in that version. The later 1.13 update (The Flattening) only changed internal block IDs, not the name.
