Description

The Netherite Hoe is the most durable hoe in vanilla Minecraft, with 2031 uses in Java Edition (2032 in Bedrock Edition) versus a Diamond Hoe's 1561 (1562). The Netherite Hoe is made by upgrading a Diamond Hoe with one Netherite Ingot at a Smithing Table, not in a 3x3 crafting grid. Right-click dirt, grass blocks, or dirt paths to till them into farmland; coarse dirt and rooted dirt only turn back into plain dirt, and rooted dirt drops its hanging roots. The Netherite Hoe's attack damage is only 1 in Java Edition, the worst of any weapon (Bedrock Edition deals 7), but the hoe is the fastest tool for harvesting blocks like hay bales, nether wart blocks, sponges, shroomlight, moss blocks, and leaves. Like all Netherite gear the Netherite Hoe is fire- and lava-resistant, floating in lava instead of burning. Added in the 1.16 Nether Update.

How to make and use a Netherite Hoe in Minecraft

    Get a Diamond Hoe and a Netherite Ingot

    Craft a Diamond Hoe from two diamonds and two sticks, then obtain one Netherite Ingot by smelting ancient debris into netherite scrap and combining four scrap with four gold ingots.

    Open a Smithing Table

    Place a Smithing Table and right-click it. The Netherite Hoe is not crafted in a 3x3 grid, so the regular crafting table will not work here.

    Upgrade the hoe

    Put the Diamond Hoe and the Netherite Ingot in the Smithing Table slots to receive a Netherite Hoe with 2031 durability (2032 in Bedrock Edition) and fire/lava resistance.

    Till and harvest

    Right-click dirt, grass blocks, or dirt paths to make farmland; coarse dirt only turns back into plain dirt. Use the hoe to harvest hay bales, nether wart blocks, sponges, moss, and leaves at top speed.

Version difference

Since Java Edition 1.20 the Smithing Table also requires a Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template alongside the Diamond Hoe and Netherite Ingot. In earlier versions only the ingot was needed.
