How to make and use a Netherite Hoe in Minecraft
-
1
Get a Diamond Hoe and a Netherite Ingot
Craft a Diamond Hoe from two diamonds and two sticks, then obtain one Netherite Ingot by smelting ancient debris into netherite scrap and combining four scrap with four gold ingots.
-
2
Open a Smithing Table
Place a Smithing Table and right-click it. The Netherite Hoe is not crafted in a 3x3 grid, so the regular crafting table will not work here.
-
3
Upgrade the hoe
Put the Diamond Hoe and the Netherite Ingot in the Smithing Table slots to receive a Netherite Hoe with 2031 durability and fire/lava resistance.
-
4
Till and harvest
Right-click dirt, grass blocks, or coarse dirt to make farmland, and use the hoe to harvest hay bales, nether wart blocks, sponges, moss, and leaves at top speed.
Since Java Edition 1.20 the Smithing Table also requires a Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template alongside the Diamond Hoe and Netherite Ingot. In earlier versions only the ingot was needed.
