Description

Diamond Hoe is a tier-four farming tool crafted from two diamonds and two sticks on a crafting table, producing one hoe with 1561 durability — second only to the Netherite Hoe. Right-clicking dirt, grass blocks, dirt paths, coarse dirt, or rooted dirt with a Diamond Hoe instantly converts them into farmland for planting wheat, carrots, potatoes, and beetroot. The Diamond Hoe deals only 1 attack damage, so it works as a tool rather than a weapon, though its attack speed of 4 is the fastest of any tool type.

Since the Minecraft 1.17 Caves & Cliffs update, the Diamond Hoe is the dedicated tool for mining hay bales, target blocks, dried kelp blocks, sponge, moss blocks, nether wart blocks, leaves, and shroomlight, breaking them far faster and dropping them reliably. A Diamond Hoe accepts Efficiency, Unbreaking, Mending, Fortune, and Silk Touch enchantments, and can be upgraded into a Netherite Hoe with a netherite ingot and a Netherite Upgrade smithing template in Minecraft 1.20 and later. Keep a Fortune III Diamond Hoe for leaf and crop yields and a Silk Touch one for harvesting intact blocks.

How to craft and use a Diamond Hoe in Minecraft

    Gather diamonds and sticks

    Mine two diamonds between Y-level -59 and 16, then craft two sticks from any planks.

    Craft the Diamond Hoe

    Place two diamonds in the top-left and top-middle cells and two sticks straight below the right diamond on a crafting table.

    Till the ground

    Right-click (Java) or tap and hold (Bedrock) on dirt or grass to turn the block into farmland for crops.

    Harvest special blocks

    Use the Diamond Hoe on hay bales, leaves, sponge, and moss blocks to break them faster and collect their drops.

Version note

From Minecraft 1.20 you can upgrade a Diamond Hoe to a Netherite Hoe using a Netherite Upgrade smithing template and one netherite ingot at a smithing table.
