Description

Mangrove Roots are the tangled lattice that gives mangrove trees their iconic appearance: a complex woven structure that grows around the base of every mature tree, descending from the trunk into water and mud. The block is non-solid in the same way leaves are — light passes through, mobs cannot easily land on it, and water can flow into the same coordinate to make it waterlogged without displacing it. The texture is a warm reddish brown that pairs naturally with mangrove planks and propagules.

The block can be obtained by chopping it from the base of any mangrove tree (any tool works, axe is fastest) or harvested from huge structures grown by planting a propagule in the right conditions. Builders use it for natural-looking treetop walkways, decorative arched bridges, and as semi-transparent privacy screens. Pouring a water bottle on a placed root block converts it into the muddy variant — the version found surrounded by mud near the base of natural mangroves — turning it into a heavier, fully opaque block with a different texture.
