Description

Mangrove Roots are the tangled, semi-transparent lattice blocks that grow around the base of mangrove trees, first added in Java Edition 1.19 (the Wild Update). They generate naturally throughout mangrove swamps, descending from the trunk into the water and mud below. Like leaves, the block is non-full: light passes through it, water can flow into the same space to waterlog it, and most mobs cannot stand on it. Its warm reddish-brown texture matches mangrove planks and propagules for a consistent palette.

You obtain Mangrove Roots by breaking them at the base of any mangrove tree — any tool works, an axe is fastest, and the block always drops itself without Silk Touch. You can also farm them by planting a mangrove propagule on mud or dirt and letting the tree grow. Builders favor the block for natural treetop walkways, arched root bridges, and airy decorative screens. Crafting one Mangrove Roots together with one Mud produces Muddy Mangrove Roots, a fully opaque variant with a darker, soil-packed texture.
