Description

Lime Glazed Terracotta is a decorative block produced exclusively by smelting lime terracotta in a furnace; no crafting recipe yields it. Each face carries an asymmetric pattern whose orientation follows placement direction, so rotating four blocks together creates different mosaic motifs for floors, walls and accent panels.

The block has hardness and blast resistance of 1.4, making it slightly tougher than stone, and is mined fastest with a pickaxe, always dropping itself. Pistons cannot push glazed terracotta, which lets builders rely on fixed mosaics in redstone contraptions. Its bright tone fits modern interiors, kitchens and summer-themed builds.

Survival Guide

How to get and use Lime Glazed Terracotta in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Obtain Lime Terracotta

Craft Lime Terracotta by combining 8 Terracotta (hardened clay) with 1 Lime Dye in a crafting table. Alternatively, find it naturally in some mesa or village structures. You need 1 Lime Terracotta for every 1 Lime Glazed Terracotta you want.

  2. 2

    Smelt in a Furnace

Place Lime Terracotta in the top slot of a furnace and any fuel (wood, coal, lava bucket) in the bottom slot. Each piece of Lime Terracotta yields exactly 1 Lime Glazed Terracotta. There is no crafting table recipe for this block.

  3. 3

    Place with Orientation in Mind

When placing Lime Glazed Terracotta, the asymmetric pattern on each face aligns according to the direction you are facing. Plan your orientation before placing, as the pattern changes based on which way you face when you click.

  4. 4

Create Mosaic Patterns with Four Blocks

Place four Lime Glazed Terracotta blocks in a 2x2 arrangement, each rotated 90 degrees from the last. Different rotations produce entirely different mosaic motifs — experiment on your floor or wall to discover the pattern you want.

  5. 5

    Mine with a Pickaxe

Lime Glazed Terracotta has hardness 1.4 and is best mined with any pickaxe. It always drops itself regardless of enchantments, so no Silk Touch is needed. Pistons cannot push this block, so finished mosaics remain fixed even in redstone contraptions.

Placement tip

Before placing a large mosaic, build a single test 2×2 and experiment with all four rotations to find your preferred pattern. Breaking and replacing a block mid-mosaic changes its orientation, so plan your layout first.
