Description
Gray Carpet prevents mob spawning: a hitbox one-sixteenth of a block tall has kept monsters off carpets since Java Edition 1.8. Gray Carpet is opaque yet never dims the light passing through, so builders lay the wool sheet over a light-emitting floor block to brighten a room while hiding the source. Gray Carpet on top of a fence or a wall forms a step players jump onto, while mobs never leap a fence even with a carpet above. A hopper beneath Gray Carpet keeps collecting items, and walking on carpets, placing them, or breaking them sends no vibration to a sculk sensor. Llamas wear Gray Carpet as a patterned rug.
