Description

The Diamond Axe is a high-tier tool in Minecraft used to chop wood-based blocks faster than any lower-tier axe and to deal heavy melee damage. You craft it with 3 diamonds and 2 sticks arranged in an L-shape on a crafting table, producing one axe with 1,561 durability. As a tool the Diamond Axe breaks logs, planks, chests, and other wooden blocks at diamond mining speed, and a right-click strips the bark off a log into its stripped variant. As a weapon it deals 9 attack damage in Java Edition — more per hit than a Diamond Sword — and can disable a defending player's shield for 5 seconds. The axe accepts Efficiency, Unbreaking, Mending, Sharpness, and Silk Touch enchantments, and since version 1.20 you can upgrade it into a Netherite Axe with a Netherite Upgrade smithing template and one netherite ingot.

How to make and use a Diamond Axe in Minecraft

    Mine 3 diamonds with an iron or diamond pickaxe and craft 2 sticks from any planks.

    Place 3 diamonds across the top-left L-shape and 2 sticks down the middle column of a crafting table to make one Diamond Axe.

In combat the Diamond Axe deals 9 damage but swings slower than a sword; use it to disable a shielded opponent rather than for rapid attacks.
