Description

The Diamond Axe is a high-tier tool in Minecraft used to chop wood-based blocks faster than any lower-tier axe and to deal heavy melee damage. You craft it with 3 diamonds and 2 sticks arranged in an L-shape on a crafting table, producing one axe with 1,561 durability in Java Edition and 1,562 in Bedrock Edition. As a tool the Diamond Axe breaks logs, planks, chests, and other wooden blocks at diamond mining speed, and a right-click strips the bark off a log into its stripped variant. As a weapon it deals 9 attack damage in Java Edition — more per hit than a Diamond Sword — and can disable a defending player's shield for 5 seconds. The axe accepts Efficiency, Unbreaking, Mending, Sharpness, and Silk Touch enchantments, and since version 1.16 you can upgrade it into a Netherite Axe at a smithing table with one netherite ingot; since version 1.20 the upgrade also requires a Netherite Upgrade smithing template.
