Guide
How to craft and place Copper Torch in Minecraft
-
1
Gather materials
Collect 1 Stick (from planks) and 1 Copper Nugget (smelt copper ingot in a stonecutter recipe or break a copper ingot down via crafting).
-
2
Open a crafting grid
Use your inventory 2×2 or a crafting table 3×3. Both accept the recipe.
-
3
Place the recipe
Put the Copper Nugget directly on top of the Stick in the same column. You will get 1 Copper Torch per craft.
-
4
Place the torch
Right-click on the top of a solid block or on a block side to mount it on a wall. Light level 14 spreads immediately.
-
5
Keep it dry
Avoid flowing water and waterlogged areas — the torch is extinguished and removed on contact, just like a vanilla Torch.
Copper is renewable through drowned farms and copper ore — perfect for biomes where coal is scarce.

Frequently asked questions
What is the recipe for Copper Torch?
Place 1 Copper Nugget on top of 1 Stick in a 2×2 inventory grid or 3×3 crafting table. You receive 1 Copper Torch per craft.
How much light does Copper Torch emit?
Light level 14 — identical to a standard Torch, enough to prevent hostile mob spawns within range.
Does water put Copper Torch out?
Yes. Flowing water and waterlogging extinguish and remove the torch, the same as a vanilla Torch.
Which Minecraft version added Copper Torch?
It was added in Minecraft 26.1.2, the spring 2026 "Tiny Takeover" vanilla drop.
Can I place Copper Torch on walls?
Yes, right-click a block's side face to mount the torch as a wall variant.
Why use Copper Torch instead of a normal Torch?
Copper is renewable through drowned farms and copper ore, so Copper Torch is great when coal is scarce and as a decorative accent for copper-themed builds.
