Description

The Cave Spider Spawn Egg spawns a cave spider on whatever block face you use it on. You can only obtain this egg from the Creative inventory or with the /give minecraft:cave_spider_spawn_egg command — it is not craftable and never appears in Survival mode. The egg is teal with dark red spots, matching the cave spider's own colors. Cave spiders are smaller than regular spiders, squeeze through one-block-tall gaps, and poison the player on Normal and Hard difficulty. In Survival, cave spiders spawn only from monster spawners inside abandoned mineshafts, so this spawn egg is the fastest way to add them to a map, build a mob farm, or test a redstone trap. Right-click a block face to place the mob instantly. It works in both Java and Bedrock Edition.

How to use a Cave Spider Spawn Egg in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Get the egg

Find the Cave Spider Spawn Egg in the Spawn Eggs tab of the Creative inventory, or run /give @s minecraft:cave_spider_spawn_egg in any world with cheats enabled.

  2. 2

    Aim at a block

Point your crosshair at the top or side of a solid block where you want the cave spider to appear.

  3. 3

    Use the egg

Right-click (use item) to spawn one cave spider on that surface; each use spends one egg in Survival but is free in Creative.

  4. 4

    Set the difficulty

Switch to Normal or Hard if you want the cave spider's bite to inflict Poison; on Easy it deals damage without poison.

Important

A spawn egg cannot create a monster spawner — it only places a live mob. In Survival, cave spiders occur naturally only in abandoned mineshaft spawners.
