Mine clay blocks
Dig clay blocks from shallow water, river beds, swamps, or lush caves. Each clay block drops four clay balls when broken.

Smelt the clay balls
Place clay balls in a furnace with any fuel. Each clay ball smelts into one brick after 10 seconds and grants 0.3 experience.

Craft a Bricks block
Arrange four bricks in a 2x2 grid on a crafting table to make one Bricks block for building houses and paths.

Craft decorative pottery
Use three bricks in a V shape for a Flower Pot, or four bricks for a Decorated Pot you can stamp with pottery sherds.
Brick is an item and cannot be placed directly in the world. You must craft it into a Bricks block, flower pot, or decorated pot first.
