Decorated Pot
Decorated Pot combines pottery sherds or bricks into a patterned storage-and-display vessel.
Description
In modern versions, the pot can also hold a single stack of items, giving it light storage utility without replacing chests. It breaks into its components when smashed in certain ways, so players can recover valuable sherds. Builders use it for ruins, desert houses, museums, market stalls, kitchens, and treasure rooms where a normal flower pot feels too small.

How to craft and use a Decorated Pot in Minecraft
-
1
Gather pottery sherds
Brush suspicious sand and suspicious gravel in trail ruins, desert temples, desert wells, and ocean ruins to collect pottery sherds; smelt clay into bricks for any blank faces.
-
2
Craft the pot
Place four sherds or bricks in a diamond shape (top, left, right, bottom) on the crafting grid to make one decorated pot; each sherd decorates the side it faces.
-
3
Place and fill it
Put the pot down and right-click it with an item to store up to one full stack inside (Minecraft 1.21 and later).
-
4
Retrieve items
Right-click empty-handed to pull the contents back out, or connect hoppers to load and unload the pot automatically.
-
5
Recover the sherds
Hit the pot with a projectile such as an arrow to shatter it and drop its individual sherds and bricks instead of the whole pot.
Breaking the pot by hand or with a tool drops it as a single item and keeps its contents, while a projectile smashes it back into its component sherds and bricks.
