How to Make Acacia Slab in Minecraft

Acacia Slab — Minecraft block

Acacia Slab

Acacia Slab is a half-height wooden block that fills the top or bottom half of a space for smooth steps, floors, and low roofs.

Description

Acacia Slab is crafted from three Acacia Planks placed in a row on a Crafting Table, and one craft yields six slabs. Acacia Slab is renewable (it can be obtained again and again without running out), first appeared in Java Edition 1.7.2, and generates naturally in Savanna villages. Any tool breaks Acacia Slab, but an axe is the fastest.

Acacia Slab occupies the top half or the bottom half of a block space, and a top and a bottom Acacia Slab placed together form a double slab with the height of a full block. Breaking a double slab drops two slabs. Acacia Slab catches fire from lava, so lava flows should stay away from wooden-slab builds. Acacia Slab is also an ingredient in the Daylight Detector and the Lectern. Three Acacia Planks become six slabs, which cover the volume of three full blocks, so Acacia Slab extends a savanna-style build in half-block steps at the same plank cost per volume.

Guide

How to craft and place Acacia Slab in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Craft Acacia Planks

One Acacia Log crafts into four Acacia Planks in the crafting grid, and three Acacia Planks are needed for one slab craft.

  2. 2

    Craft the slabs

Three Acacia Planks in one row of the Crafting Table grid produce six Acacia Slab.

  3. 3

    Choose the half

Acacia Slab placed on top of a block, or on the lower half of a block's side, goes into the bottom half, while Acacia Slab placed under a block, or on the upper half of a side, goes into the top half.

  4. 4

    Make a double slab

A top Acacia Slab and a bottom Acacia Slab in the same block space merge into a double slab.

Mob spawning

Mobs can spawn on top slabs and double slabs but not on bottom slabs, so a floor of bottom Acacia Slab keeps mobs from spawning on that floor.

Acacia Slab smelts 0.75 items per slab in Java Edition and 1.5 items per slab in Bedrock Edition.

Do items fall through Acacia Slab into a Hopper?

Yes. A bottom Acacia Slab placed on top of a Hopper is transparent to items, so items fall through the slab into the Hopper.
