Eight Glass Panes surrounding one White Dye on a crafting grid produce eight White Stained Glass Panes, and six White Stained Glass blocks convert into sixteen panes. Breaking demands care: a White Stained Glass Pane mined without Silk Touch drops nothing, a Silk Touch tool returns the pane, and every tool mines at the same speed. White Stained Glass Panes also generate naturally in plains village temples, where the white panes have appeared since Java Edition 1.14.
For glazing area, White Stained Glass Pane outperforms stained glass blocks: sixteen panes from six White Stained Glass blocks let windows reach up to 267% of the area possible with stained glass blocks alone. A lone White Stained Glass Pane stands as a thin 2×2-pixel post, and neighboring blocks pull adjoining panes into flat runs, curves, and T-junctions, while horizontal glazing still requires White Stained Glass blocks. White Stained Glass Pane accepts waterlogging (water shares the pane's block space), never burns, and never catches fire from lava, keeping fountains and pool windows clear. Beacon beams change color when shining through stained glass panes, a mechanic added in Java Edition 1.8. For bright builds, snow-themed halls, and white-glazed facades, White Stained Glass Pane spends less glass per window than solid stained glass blocks.
