Description

Growing on farmland through eight crop stages, each stage advances on a random tick when overhead light stays at or above level nine. Seeds — obtained by breaking tall grass or found in village chests — are placed on hoe-tilled soil within four blocks of standing water. Bone meal jumps several growth stages at once. A fully mature plant drops one wheat plus 1 to 4 seeds in Java Edition (0 to 3 in Bedrock Edition), making any field self-sustaining without purchasing replacements. Cutting before peak maturity yields only seeds. Harvested grain stacks to 64 and acts as the core ingredient for bread, cake, cookies, and hay bales. Sheep and cows also breed when given wheat, so a combined crop and livestock farm shares the same resource efficiently. On multiplayer servers, automated designs using observers, pistons, and water streams deliver a near-continuous supply with minimal hands-on replanting work.
