Waxed Exposed Copper Grate is the honeycomb-treated version of Exposed Copper Grate, the first oxidation stage of the see-through copper grate family. Players craft it either by combining four Waxed Exposed Block of Copper pieces in a cross pattern on the crafting grid — top-middle, middle-left, middle-right, and bottom-middle cells, skipping the corners and center — for four grates at once, or by applying a Honeycomb to an existing Exposed Copper Grate to wax it in place. A stonecutter turns one Waxed Exposed Block of Copper into four Waxed Exposed Copper Grate as well. Copper grates of various oxidation stages also generate naturally, already waxed, along the corridors of trial chambers, where they serve as wall-mounted walkways between rooms and sometimes hide a chest at a dead end.

Once waxed, Waxed Exposed Copper Grate keeps its lightly discolored, faintly greenish look forever, because the honeycomb coating blocks any further oxidation toward the weathered and oxidized stages. The perforated texture stays see-through, does not conduct redstone, and mobs cannot spawn on top of it, which makes it a safe decorative floor or wall panel above open shafts. It stacks to 64, survives lava and fire without burning, and can be waterlogged, so it works equally well as a dry catwalk or a submerged grate in an aquarium build. Builders who want the greenish exposed tone without watching it darken further into weathered or oxidized copper should reach for the waxed version.
