Exposed Copper forms naturally as an unwaxed copper block weathers over time, but Waxed Exposed Copper never advances further to the weathered or oxidized stage once waxed. Copper ingots behind the whole copper block family come from mining copper ore, smelting, or drowned zombie drops, which keeps Waxed Exposed Copper renewable. A stone pickaxe or better is required to mine Waxed Exposed Copper, and a weaker tool breaks the surface without dropping anything. Waxed Exposed Copper stacks to 64 like the rest of the copper family.

Scraping an axe across Waxed Exposed Copper strips the wax and returns the surface to plain Exposed Copper, so weathering can resume from that point. A stonecutter turns Waxed Exposed Copper into matching cut copper, slab, stair, chiseled copper, and copper grate forms. Every one of those shapes stays locked in the same exposed color.
