Description

Waxed Cut Copper is the sealed variant of Cut Copper, crafted by pairing one Cut Copper block with one Honeycomb on a crafting table to lock the orange copper tone in place permanently. One Block of Copper feeds a stonecutter to produce four Cut Copper pieces, and a shapeless Honeycomb pairing converts each piece into Waxed Cut Copper. Mining Waxed Cut Copper requires a stone pickaxe or better and drops the block itself; mining by hand destroys the block with no drop. The block carries hardness 3, blast resistance 6, and a stack size of 64.

The wax layer freezes Waxed Cut Copper at its current oxidation stage, blocking the slow four-stage weathering (exposed, weathered, oxidized) that turns untreated copper green over time. Builders reach for Waxed Cut Copper to keep a permanent warm-orange tone on roofs, facades, and decorative trim where the green patina is unwanted. A right-click with an axe scrapes the wax off and returns regular Cut Copper, and the sealed block feeds the stonecutter for matching slabs, stairs, and chiseled copper variants.

Frequently asked questions

Does Waxed Cut Copper oxidize or turn green over time?

No. The wax seals the block and freezes Waxed Cut Copper at its current color stage, so the orange tone never progresses to exposed, weathered, or oxidized green.

How do you remove the wax from Waxed Cut Copper?

Right-click the block with an axe to scrape the wax off, which returns it to regular Cut Copper that will then resume oxidizing.

What pickaxe do you need to mine Waxed Cut Copper?

A stone pickaxe or better. Mining Waxed Cut Copper by hand or with a wooden pickaxe destroys the block and drops nothing.

Is Waxed Cut Copper renewable?

Yes. Copper is renewable through drowned drops and honeycomb is renewable from bee farms, so Waxed Cut Copper can be produced indefinitely.

What is the difference between Waxed Cut Copper and Cut Copper?

Cut Copper slowly oxidizes through four color stages until it turns green, while Waxed Cut Copper keeps its original orange tone permanently because the wax blocks oxidation.

What can you craft from Waxed Cut Copper?

Waxed Cut Copper feeds the crafting table for Cut Copper Slabs and Cut Copper Stairs, and the stonecutter for slabs, stairs, and chiseled copper variants.
