Description

Waxed Copper Trapdoor is made by combining a Copper Trapdoor with one Honeycomb on a crafting grid, and that single Honeycomb is what matters: it stops the copper from oxidizing any further, so the trapdoor keeps its bright orange-pink finish instead of drifting through the exposed, weathered, and oxidized color stages that an unwaxed Copper Trapdoor goes through over time. A Copper Trapdoor itself takes 4 Copper Ingot arranged in a 2x2 square on the crafting grid. Mining Waxed Copper Trapdoor back up needs a stone pickaxe or better — without one it drops nothing — and a full stack holds 64.

Waxed Copper Trapdoor swings open and shut just like any other trapdoor: right-click it directly, or wire it to a redstone signal so it opens the instant the signal activates and closes the instant it deactivates. It also reacts to the wind burst of a thrown Wind Charge, flipping open or closed without redstone at all. Because the block is waterloggable and not flammable, it survives being placed at a waterline hatch or above a lava-adjacent floor without catching fire. Pick Waxed Copper Trapdoor over the plain Copper Trapdoor whenever a build needs its exact current color locked in for good — a copper roof hatch or vault door that should never fade to green.
