Description

Stripped Dark Oak Wood is the bark-stripped variant of the dark oak wood block, displaying the same deep chocolate-brown stripped texture on all six faces instead of dark bark. Players make Stripped Dark Oak Wood by using any axe on a placed Dark Oak Wood block, or by crafting four stripped dark oak logs in a 2x2 grid, which yields three Stripped Dark Oak Wood. Dark oak grows only as 2x2 trees in the Dark Forest biome, so the raw logs come from those dense, canopy-covered woodlands. Stripped Dark Oak Wood has a hardness of 2, is flammable, and works as furnace fuel, smelting 1.5 items per block like every other log and wood type.

Because every side of Stripped Dark Oak Wood matches, builders use it for clean support pillars, exposed beams, and framing where a bark seam would break the look. The near-black brown tone makes Stripped Dark Oak Wood one of the darkest natural building woods in Minecraft, pairing well with spruce, deepslate, and blackstone for moody interiors and medieval timber framing. Stripped Dark Oak Wood can also be crafted into four dark oak planks, but its main value is the uniform stripped surface for decorative columns. The stripped wood variant was added in Java Edition 1.13, alongside all other stripped logs and wood.

How to make and use Stripped Dark Oak Wood in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Get dark oak logs

Find a Dark Forest biome and chop dark oak trees, which grow only from 2x2 dark oak saplings, to collect dark oak logs.

  2. 2

    Create the wood block

Place four dark oak logs in a 2x2 crafting square to make Dark Oak Wood, the full six-sided bark block.

  3. 3

    Strip the bark

Use any axe on the placed Dark Oak Wood block to turn it into Stripped Dark Oak Wood with its bark removed on every face.

  4. 4

    Build with it

Place Stripped Dark Oak Wood as pillars, beams, or framing, where its uniform stripped sides keep edges seamless from any angle.

Tip

Crafting four stripped dark oak logs in a 2x2 grid also gives three Stripped Dark Oak Wood, which is more log-efficient than stripping blocks one by one.
