Description

Stone Sword is a stone-tier melee weapon in Minecraft, one step above the Wooden Sword and below the Iron Sword. You craft it from two cobblestone (or blackstone or cobbled deepslate) stacked above one stick in a crafting table. The Stone Sword deals 5 attack damage in Java Edition and has 131 durability, making it a cheap, reliable upgrade for the early game before you mine iron. It instantly cuts cobwebs and bamboo, and it can be enchanted with Sharpness, Smite, Knockback, Fire Aspect, or Unbreaking through an enchanting table or anvil. Repair a worn Stone Sword on an anvil with cobblestone, or by combining two damaged swords into one.

Crafting Guide

How to craft and use a Stone Sword in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Gather materials

Mine at least two cobblestone with any pickaxe and make a stick from two wooden planks placed one above the other.

  2. 2

    Open a crafting table

Open the 3x3 crafting table grid; the 2x2 inventory grid cannot make a Stone Sword.

  3. 3

    Place the pattern

Put one cobblestone in the top cell and one in the middle of the same column, then a stick directly below to get a Stone Sword.

  4. 4

    Enchant or repair

Use an enchanting table or anvil for Sharpness, Smite, or Unbreaking, and an anvil with cobblestone to restore durability.

Material options

In both Java and Bedrock you can craft a Stone Sword from cobblestone, blackstone, or cobbled deepslate — all three count as stone-tier crafting material.
