Stone Axe
Stone Axe is the tier-2 axe in Minecraft, crafted from 3 cobblestone and 2 sticks for 131 durability — the early-game upgrade from the wooden axe.
Description
Beyond chopping trees, Stone Axe strips bark from logs into the stripped variant and scrapes wax and oxidation off copper blocks with a right-click. Stone Axe also disables a player's or piglin's shield for 5 seconds on a successful hit, making it a cheap melee weapon in early survival. Players craft a Stone Axe as the first real upgrade after gathering cobblestone, holding it until iron ore is smelted for the longer-lasting iron axe.

How to craft and use a Stone Axe in Minecraft
-
1
Gather 3 cobblestone
Mine stone with any pickaxe to drop cobblestone, then collect at least 3 cobblestone blocks for one Stone Axe.
-
2
Make 2 sticks
Place 2 planks vertically in the crafting grid to make 4 sticks; a Stone Axe needs only 2 of them.
-
3
Craft the Stone Axe
On a crafting table, put 2 cobblestone across the top row, 1 cobblestone and a stick in the middle, and a stick below to craft one Stone Axe.
-
4
Chop and strip wood
Hold the Stone Axe and break logs for faster wood, or right-click a log to strip its bark for clean building blocks.
Stone Axe stats are identical in Java and Bedrock Edition, but only Java Edition disables a target's shield for 5 seconds on a hit.
