Description
Snow is the layer-style block that accumulates naturally during precipitation in cold biomes — taigas, snowy plains, ice spikes, frozen oceans, mountain peaks above the temperature threshold. Each block exists in eight discrete heights from one-eighth to a full block; right-clicking a partial layer with a snow item adds another level until full. Walking across thin layers slightly slows the player unless they wear leather boots, which provide complete immunity.
The block does not generate by player crafting — only by weather effects in qualifying biomes, or as residual cover after a snowstorm. Mining without a silk-touch shovel drops snowballs (one to four depending on layer count) that can be thrown for cosmetic damage or stockpiled into a snow block via a 2×2 grid. Sunlight does not melt the layer — temperature does. Placing a torch nearby or moving the block to a warmer biome causes it to disappear over a few minutes, providing a natural way to clear seasonal accumulation around bases.
