Raw Rabbit
Raw Rabbit is a Minecraft food item dropped by adult rabbits, restoring 3 hunger points and stacking to 64.
Description
The main use for Raw Rabbit is feeding tamed wolves: Raw Rabbit heals injured wolves, breeds the pack, and speeds each puppy's growth by 10% of its remaining maturation time. Smelting Raw Rabbit in a furnace or campfire yields Cooked Rabbit and grants 0.35 experience per item, turning a rabbit pen into a tidy early-game XP source. Rabbits also drop a Rabbit's Foot 10% of the time (up to 19% with Looting III) and 0–1 Rabbit Hide, so one hunting trip often stocks three resources at once. Treat Raw Rabbit as a wolf supply line first and player food second — smelt a stack for yourself, reserve another for the pack, and route the byproducts into Rabbit Stew, Rabbit Hide, and Rabbit's Foot for the full crafting chain.

How to get and use Raw Rabbit in Minecraft
-
1
Hunt adult rabbits
Find rabbits in flower forests, taigas, snowy plains, deserts, and meadows, then kill an adult rabbit — Java Edition guarantees at least one Raw Rabbit per kill since 1.19.3, while Bedrock rolls 0–1.
-
2
Add Looting for more meat
Enchant a sword with Looting I–III to raise the average drop; Bedrock reaches 0–4 Raw Rabbit per rabbit at Looting III, and the Rabbit's Foot chance climbs from 10% to 19%.
-
3
Smelt into Cooked Rabbit
Place Raw Rabbit in a furnace, smoker, or campfire with any fuel to cook Cooked Rabbit, gaining 0.35 experience per item and raising the food value from 3 to 5 hunger.
-
4
Feed your wolves
Right-click a tamed wolf with Raw Rabbit to heal 3 health, breed two adults, or accelerate a puppy's growth by 10% of the remaining maturation time.
Bedrock Edition rabbits can drop nothing (0–1 base), so a Bedrock hunter needs Looting or a larger herd to match Java Edition's guaranteed drop.

Frequently asked questions
Can you craft Raw Rabbit in Minecraft?
No. Raw Rabbit is a mob drop, not a crafting recipe — kill adult rabbits to obtain it, or smelt the drop into Cooked Rabbit.
How much hunger does Raw Rabbit restore?
Raw Rabbit restores 3 hunger points and 1.8 saturation, the lowest of any raw meat — cooking it into Cooked Rabbit raises the payoff to 5 hunger and 6 saturation.
Is Raw Rabbit renewable?
Yes. Rabbits breed with carrots, golden carrots, or dandelions, so a fenced pen of two adults produces Raw Rabbit indefinitely without exploring new chunks.
What does a rabbit drop besides Raw Rabbit?
Adult rabbits also drop Rabbit's Foot (10% chance, up to 19% with Looting III) and 0–1 Rabbit Hide, plus nothing in Bedrock when the 0–1 Raw Rabbit roll misses.
Can you feed Raw Rabbit to wolves?
Yes. Raw Rabbit heals tamed wolves, breeds them, and speeds a puppy's growth by 10% of its remaining maturation time, making Raw Rabbit a reliable wolf food.
Does fire cook the rabbit for you?
Yes. A rabbit killed by fire, lava, or a Flame bow drops Cooked Rabbit directly, skipping the furnace step but still counting as a single drop.
