Description
Block of Quartz has three direct decorative variants: Chiseled Quartz Block (stacked from two quartz slabs on the crafting grid), Quartz Pillar (two Blocks of Quartz arranged vertically produce the striped column), and Smooth Quartz Block (smelted from any Block of Quartz in a furnace). All four forms support slabs, stairs, and walls at the stonecutter, making the quartz family one of the most complete decorative sets in the game. Pair Block of Quartz with sea lanterns for futuristic interiors, with stone bricks for marble palace floors, or with red nether bricks for striking Nether-temple contrasts.

Gather nether quartz from the Nether
Mine nether quartz ore with any pickaxe in the Nether dimension — each ore drops 2–5 nether quartz. Fortune III on a pickaxe increases drops to up to 8 per ore. The Nether Wastes biome is the most abundant source: ore spawns at all height levels, with the densest concentration between Y=10 and Y=30.

Craft the Block of Quartz
Open a crafting table and place four nether quartz crystals in a 2×2 square in any position on the grid. Each recipe of 4 crystals produces one Block of Quartz. No smelting step is required — the block comes directly from the crafting table.

Choose your variant at the stonecutter
Place a Block of Quartz into a stonecutter to cut slabs (2 per block), stairs (1 per block), or walls (1 per block). For Smooth Quartz Block, smelt a Block of Quartz in any furnace. Block of Quartz is not fireproof and has a blast resistance of 0.8 (same as stone). It cannot be used as furnace fuel. Nether quartz ore does not regenerate in already-loaded Nether chunks — for large-scale quartz projects, explore new Nether territory where ore has not yet spawned.
