Description

Polished Cinnabar is a deep-red decorative building block added in Minecraft Java Edition 26.2 (Chaos Cubed), released on June 16, 2026. You craft Polished Cinnabar from the base Cinnabar block, which generates in the new sulfur caves biome: place four Cinnabar in a 2x2 grid to get four Polished Cinnabar, or cut one Cinnabar in a stonecutter for a 1:1 yield. The polished surface is smoother and more uniform than rough natural Cinnabar, which makes the block popular for clean red floors, pillars, temples, and accent walls. Polished Cinnabar has a hardness of 1.5 and a blast resistance of 6, and it must be mined with a wooden pickaxe or better - breaking it by hand drops nothing. The block comes with three matching variants - Polished Cinnabar Slab, Stairs, and Wall - all cut from the full block in a stonecutter. Polished Cinnabar is not renewable, does not burn, and emits no light, so it serves purely as a decorative building material.
