Description

Polished Cinnabar Slab is a half-height decorative building block introduced in Minecraft 26.2 "Chaos Cubed", crafted from Polished Cinnabar found in Sulfur Caves biomes. Polished Cinnabar Slab occupies exactly half a block's vertical space (0.5 blocks tall), making Polished Cinnabar Slab ideal for creating thin floors, low ceilings, stepped platforms, and accent details. The deep red and dark crimson color of Polished Cinnabar Slab pairs exceptionally well with Nether Brick, Deepslate, Blackstone, and Crimson building materials for gothic or medieval-themed constructions.

To craft Polished Cinnabar Slab, place 3 Polished Cinnabar blocks across the middle row of a crafting table to yield 6 Polished Cinnabar Slabs. Alternatively, use a Stonecutter to convert 1 Polished Cinnabar into 1 Polished Cinnabar Slab with no material waste. Stacking two Polished Cinnabar Slabs on top of each other produces a full-height double slab block.

Polished Cinnabar Slab requires a pickaxe to mine — bare hands drop nothing. Polished Cinnabar Slab is non-flammable and shares the blast resistance of other polished stone-type blocks, making Polished Cinnabar Slab a durable choice for builds that need moderate explosion protection. Polished Cinnabar Slab does not conduct Redstone signals differently from other slabs in the vanilla game.

Guide

How to use Polished Cinnabar Slab in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Obtain Polished Cinnabar

Mine Cinnabar Ore in the Sulfur Caves biome using a pickaxe. Smelt or process the ore to get Cinnabar, then craft Polished Cinnabar by arranging 4 Cinnabar blocks in a 2×2 pattern in a crafting table. Polished Cinnabar is the required base material for Polished Cinnabar Slab.

  2. 2

    Craft Polished Cinnabar Slab

Place 3 Polished Cinnabar blocks in a horizontal row across the middle row of a crafting table. This recipe produces 6 Polished Cinnabar Slabs per craft — a 2:1 material efficiency ratio. Alternatively, insert 1 Polished Cinnabar into a Stonecutter to get 1 Polished Cinnabar Slab with zero waste.

  3. 3

    Place Polished Cinnabar Slab

Click the bottom half of a block face to place Polished Cinnabar Slab as a bottom slab. Click the top half to place Polished Cinnabar Slab as a top slab. Polished Cinnabar Slab snaps flush with the floor or ceiling depending on placement position.

  4. 4

    Create double slabs

Place a second Polished Cinnabar Slab on top of an existing bottom Polished Cinnabar Slab to merge them into a full-height double-slab block. Double slabs created this way look identical to the full block but are technically a slab entity.

  5. 5

Use in gothic and dark builds

Combine Polished Cinnabar Slab with Nether Brick, Deepslate Tiles, Blackstone, and Crimson Stems to build dark medieval castles, gothic cathedrals, dungeon floors, or stepped benches. Polished Cinnabar Slab's deep crimson tone adds dramatic contrast against lighter stone materials.

Tip

Use a Stonecutter when you need odd quantities of Polished Cinnabar Slabs — the Stonecutter converts 1 Polished Cinnabar to exactly 1 slab, eliminating the minimum-6 constraint of the crafting table recipe.
