Description

Music Disc "13" is one of the two original music discs in Minecraft, composed by C418 (Daniel Rosenfeld) and added together with "cat" in Beta 1.9 Prerelease 3 in 2011. Music Disc "13" plays an eerie, ambient track of cave-like sounds and distorted noises lasting 2:58 (178 seconds), shown in the action bar as "C418 - 13". Music Disc "13" is not craftable: the main way to obtain it is the rare drop when a skeleton kills a Creeper with an arrow, after which the Creeper drops one random C418 overworld disc.

Music Disc "13" is played by using it on a Jukebox, which raises music-note particles and makes nearby parrots dance, and a Redstone Comparator reading that Jukebox outputs a signal strength of 1 for Music Disc "13" — the lowest of all discs, because "13" is first in the disc ordering. What sets Music Disc "13" apart from the other C418 overworld discs is that it can also be found inside dungeon chests and woodland mansion chests, not just from the Creeper drop. Music Disc "13" has a max stack size of 1 and works in both Java Edition and Bedrock Edition.

Guide

How to get and play the "13" music disc in Minecraft

  1. 1

Make a skeleton shoot a Creeper

Music Disc "13" is not craftable. Lure a Creeper in front of a skeleton so the arrow hits the Creeper; the killed Creeper drops one random C418 overworld disc, which can be "13".

  2. 2

    Loot dungeon and mansion chests

Unlike most C418 discs, Music Disc "13" can also be found directly inside dungeon chests and woodland mansion chests, giving you a second reliable way to obtain it.

  3. 3

    Place a Jukebox

Craft and place a Jukebox (eight planks around one diamond). The Jukebox is the only block that plays Music Disc "13".

  4. 4

Use the disc on the Jukebox

Right-click (use) Music Disc "13" on the Jukebox. The action bar shows "C418 - 13", note particles rise, and the 2:58 track plays. Use the Jukebox again to eject the disc and stop the music.

  5. 5

Read it with a comparator (optional)

Place a Redstone Comparator against the playing Jukebox to read Music Disc "13" as signal strength 1 — the lowest value, useful for automatic disc detection.

Parrots dance

Any parrot near a Jukebox playing Music Disc "13" will start dancing, and a Hopper can insert or pull the disc for automation.
