Description

Mangrove Boat is the mangrove-wood variant of the Minecraft boat, crafted by placing 5 Mangrove Planks in a U-shape on a crafting table to yield one boat. Added in Java Edition 1.19 alongside mangrove swamps, Mangrove Boat behaves identically to every other Overworld wood boat: a top speed of 8 blocks per second on water, roughly 40 on packed ice, and about 72.72 on blue ice. The boat seats two entities, so a player can ferry a villager, a pet, or a hostile mob across bodies of water without spending hunger.

Mangrove Boat is fully renewable because mangrove trees grow from propagated propagules in any warm, swampy biome and each log yields four planks. On impact, the boat survives most low-speed crashes but breaks to a single hit dealing more than 4 damage, so clearing crowded shores before docking keeps the vessel intact. As furnace fuel, one Mangrove Boat burns for 60 seconds and smelts up to 6 items, and the boat also negates all fall damage for itself and its passengers. Builders exploring the pale mangrove aesthetic pair Mangrove Boat with mangrove planks, roots, and mud for a coherent swamp-base arrival dock.

How to craft and use a Mangrove Boat in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Gather Mangrove Logs

Find a mangrove swamp biome and harvest mangrove logs from the tall trees rooted in muddy water. Each log crafts into four Mangrove Planks on a crafting grid.

  2. 2

    Craft the Mangrove Boat

Place 5 Mangrove Planks in a U-shape on a crafting table, filling the bottom row and the left and right cells of the middle row. The recipe outputs one Mangrove Boat.

  3. 3

    Launch the boat on water

Right-click a water surface while holding the Mangrove Boat to deploy it, then right-click the boat to board. The boat reaches 8 blocks per second on water and far more on ice.

  4. 4

    Pick up a second passenger

A Mangrove Boat seats two entities, so steer close to a villager, pet, or mob to load it aboard without spending hunger on the crossing.

  5. 5

    Recover the boat safely

Break the boat with a single hit to collect it as an item; boats survive low-speed crashes but shatter under any strike dealing more than 4 damage, so clear crowded shores before docking.

Fall damage immunity

The Mangrove Boat cancels all fall damage for both the boat and its passengers, so dropping a Mangrove Boat down a waterfall or off a cliff is a safe way to descend with a passenger aboard.
