Description

Light Blue Bed is the light blue color variant of the Minecraft bed, a placeable block that skips the night and moves the player's respawn location. One Light Blue Bed is crafted from three light blue wool across the top row of a crafting table and three planks of any wood type across the bottom row; the wool color must match, and the planks can be mixed. A bed of any other color plus light blue dye re-crafts into a Light Blue Bed, a recolor path opened to every bed color in Java 1.20. Shepherd villagers also sell beds, and in Java Edition trial chambers a bed of any color, including light blue, can generate in intersection rooms. The sixteen bed colors, Light Blue Bed among them, arrived in Java 1.12 and Bedrock 1.1.0.
Night-time or thunderstorm use of a Light Blue Bed sets the respawn point, and a daytime click sets the same point without sleeping. Falling asleep requires sky light of 11 or below and no monster within 8 blocks horizontally and 5 blocks vertically of the bed head; once every Overworld player lies in bed, the time jumps to sunrise 5 seconds later. Regular sleep keeps phantoms away, because phantoms spawn around a player after 3 sleepless in-game days, while crop growth and furnace smelting continue at normal speed through the skipped night. Villager breeding depends on beds too: villagers require spare beds to produce offspring. A sleep attempt in the Nether or the End detonates the Light Blue Bed with explosion power 5, ahead of TNT at 4. A fall onto a bed bounces the player upward at 75% of the impact velocity.

Guide

How to craft and use a Light Blue Bed in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Gather the materials

Collect three light blue wool and three planks; the planks accept any wood type in any combination.

  2. 2

    Craft the bed

Place the three light blue wool across the top row of a crafting table and the three planks across the bottom row; the output is one Light Blue Bed.

  3. 3

    Place the bed

Set the Light Blue Bed on a free floor spot; the bed occupies two blocks of space, head and foot.

  4. 4

    Sleep through the night

Click the bed at night or during a thunderstorm to sleep until sunrise; a monster within 8 blocks of the bed head keeps the player awake until the threat leaves.

  5. 5

    Set the respawn point

Click the Light Blue Bed during the day to set the respawn point without sleeping.

Nether warning

A sleep attempt in the Nether or the End explodes the Light Blue Bed at power 5 and sets the surrounding blocks on fire; beds work as spawn points only in the Overworld.

Frequently asked questions

Can you craft a Light Blue Bed from wool of different colors?

No, the recipe demands three wool of a single color, so a Light Blue Bed needs three light blue wool. The three planks underneath may mix different wood types.

Can another bed be recolored into a Light Blue Bed?

Yes, a bed of any color plus light blue dye outputs a Light Blue Bed on a crafting table. Since Java 1.20, every bed color accepts any recolor.

How durable is a Light Blue Bed?

Light Blue Bed has hardness 0.2 and blast resistance 0.2; no tool speeds up the breaking, and the destroyed bed drops itself as an item.

How close must a player stand to use a Light Blue Bed?

Within 3 blocks of the bed in Java Edition and within 2 blocks in Bedrock Edition; a click from farther away fails.

Does a Light Blue Bed stack in the inventory?

No, the maximum stack size is 1, so each Light Blue Bed occupies its own inventory slot.

Does sleeping in a Light Blue Bed restore health?

On Bedrock Edition Peaceful difficulty, a full night of sleep restores all health; on other difficulties sleep heals nothing.
