Description

Leather Leggings are the leg-slot piece of Minecraft's leather armor set, crafted from seven leather arranged in a pants pattern on the 3x3 grid. Leather Leggings grant 2 armor points — one full armor icon — and carry 75 durability points, the second-most of the four leather pieces after the chestplate. Because leather drops from cows, horses, and mooshrooms and is fully renewable, Leather Leggings are usually the first leg protection a survival player crafts before iron becomes available.

Leather Leggings can be dyed any color by combining the leggings with dye on the crafting grid or in a water-filled cauldron, making them the only armor type worn purely for cosmetic outfits. Players enchant Leather Leggings with Protection, Unbreaking, or Thorns at an enchanting table or anvil, and repair them with extra leather on an anvil or grindstone. Zombies and other mobs can also spawn wearing Leather Leggings, so a dropped pair often arrives slightly damaged.

    Kill cows, horses, llamas, or mooshrooms to collect 7 leather, or trade with a Leatherworker villager.

    Place the 7 leather in a leggings pattern: a full top row and both outer columns, leaving the center and bottom-center cells empty.

    Equip the leggings

    Move the finished Leather Leggings into the leg armor slot in your inventory to gain 2 armor points.

    Dye or enchant (optional)

    Combine the leggings with any dye to recolor them, or use an enchanting table or anvil to add Protection and Unbreaking.

Durability tip

Leather Leggings have only 75 durability, so add Unbreaking or carry spare leather to repair them on an anvil before they break.
