Description

Jungle Fence is a wooden barrier block crafted from 4 Jungle Planks and 2 Sticks, which yield 3 fences per craft. Jungle Fence was added to Java Edition 1.8 and to Bedrock Edition in version 0.10.0. Naturally generated Jungle Fence appears as the window of armorer houses in desert villages and in shipwrecks. Jungle Fence has hardness 2 and blast resistance 3 (how much explosion damage the block withstands).

Jungle Fence fills one block in the selection box, but the collision box (the area that stops entities) is 1.5 blocks tall, so most mobs cannot jump over it without the Jump Boost effect. Spiders still climb over Jungle Fence, and camels can walk over it. Jungle Fence connects to solid blocks and to other wooden fences, but not to Nether Brick Fence, and a Lead ties a mob to the post. Jungle Fence stacks to 64 and is renewable (the supply never runs out). A line of Jungle Fence therefore keeps most mobs inside or outside a marked area.

Guide

How to craft and use Jungle Fence in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Gather the materials

One craft needs 4 Jungle Planks and 2 Sticks.

  2. 2

    Fill the crafting grid

A crafting table (3×3 grid) accepts two rows of plank, stick, plank, and the result is 3 Jungle Fence.

  3. 3

    Place the posts

Each placed Jungle Fence connects to neighbouring solid blocks and wooden fences automatically.

  4. 4

    Add a gate

A Jungle Fence Gate set into the line gives players a way through the barrier.

  5. 5

    Tie a mob

A Lead used on a Jungle Fence ties a mob to the post.

Jump-over trick

A Carpet or Jungle Trapdoor on top of a Jungle Fence lets players jump over while most mobs stay blocked.

Frequently asked questions

Can Jungle Fence hold water?

Yes. Jungle Fence is waterloggable, so water can occupy the same block space as the fence.

Does Jungle Fence burn?

Yes. Jungle Fence is flammable and also catches fire from lava in Java Edition and Bedrock Edition.

Which tool breaks Jungle Fence fastest?

An axe breaks Jungle Fence fastest, but Jungle Fence drops when broken with any tool.

Can mobs cross where Jungle Fence meets Nether Brick Fence?

No. The two fence types do not connect to each other, and mobs cannot pass through the gap between them, although players can.
