Description

Diamond Leggings are the leg piece of the diamond armor set in Minecraft, crafted from seven diamonds in a crafting table. They provide 6 armor points (three full armor icons) and 2 armor toughness, sitting one tier above iron and one below netherite. With 495 durability, Diamond Leggings outlast their iron counterpart and occupy the player's leggings slot. They are the only armor slot that can hold Swift Sneak, an enchantment found in ancient city chests that lets you crouch-walk at nearly full speed. Players also apply Protection, Unbreaking, Mending, and Thorns to raise defense and lifespan. With a Smithing Table, a Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template, and one netherite ingot, Diamond Leggings can be upgraded into Netherite Leggings while keeping every enchantment. They do not appear in natural generation: you craft them, trade for them with armorer villagers, or repair them on an anvil with extra diamonds.

How to craft and use Diamond Leggings in Minecraft

    Mine seven diamonds

    Dig below Y=16 and mine diamond ore with an iron or diamond pickaxe; each ore drops one diamond, so collect at least seven.

    Craft the leggings

    Open a crafting table and place diamonds in every slot except the two bottom-center cells: three across the top, then two columns down each side.

    Equip them

    Open your inventory and put the Diamond Leggings in the leggings armor slot to gain 6 armor points.

    Add Swift Sneak

    Take a Swift Sneak book from an ancient city chest and apply it at an anvil; this enchantment fits leggings only and lets you crouch-walk near full speed.

    Upgrade to netherite (optional)

    At a Smithing Table, combine the leggings with a Netherite Upgrade Template and one netherite ingot to make Netherite Leggings without losing enchantments.

Version note

Swift Sneak was added in Java 1.19 and Bedrock 1.19; it only exists in versions with ancient cities and the Deep Dark.
