Description
For builders, this material is the workhorse of dark architecture. It reads as worked masonry from any distance, suggests ancient or fortified construction without further detailing, and looks equally at home on castle exteriors, mountain fortresses, and underground tunnels. The full variant set is available — slabs, stairs, walls — plus a smelted cracked variant for aged or ruined sections. A single block in a stonecutter produces one of any compatible refined variant, allowing direct conversion without going through the brick-then-tiles chain manually.

Mine Deepslate (found below Y=0) with a pickaxe and Silk Touch to get Deepslate blocks. Arrange 4 Deepslate in a 2×2 grid to craft 4 Polished Deepslate, or use a stonecutter for a 1-to-1 conversion from Cobbled Deepslate.

Deepslate Bricks have blast resistance 6.0 and hardness 3.5 — identical to Stone Bricks — making Deepslate Bricks a durable structural block. Mine Deepslate Bricks with at least a wooden pickaxe; without Silk Touch Deepslate Bricks drop Cobbled Deepslate instead.

Create Cracked Deepslate Bricks
Smelt 1 Deepslate Brick in any furnace to obtain 1 Cracked Deepslate Brick. Cracked Deepslate Bricks display a fractured texture ideal for ruins, abandoned dungeons, and weathered castle sections, and pair naturally with regular Deepslate Bricks in the same build.
Use the stonecutter to skip the Polished Deepslate step entirely — 1 Cobbled Deepslate converts directly to 1 Deepslate Brick, saving a crafting table pass.
