Description

Crimson Fence is a wooden barrier crafted from four Crimson Planks and two Sticks, and each craft yields three fences. On a Crafting Table, two adjacent rows of the crafting grid each take Crimson Plank, Stick, Crimson Plank from left to right. Crimson Fence stacks to 64, has a hardness of 2 and a blast resistance of 3, drops when broken with any tool, and breaks fastest with an axe. Crimson Fence was added in Java Edition 1.16 and Bedrock Edition 1.16.0 together with the Warped Fence.

Crimson Fence has a one-block hitbox but a 1.5-block collision box, so most mobs cannot clear the posts without Jump Boost, while Spiders climb them like any vertical surface. Crimson Fence connects to solid blocks and to other wooden fences, but not to a Nether Brick Fence. A Lead can tie a mob to a Crimson Fence post. Unlike Oak Fence, Crimson Fence is not flammable. Crimson Fence suits animal pens and Nether builds where a barrier must stay intact near fire.

How to craft and use Crimson Fence in Minecraft

    Gather the materials

    Four Crimson Planks and two Sticks make one batch of three Crimson Fences.

    Fill the recipe

    Two adjacent rows of the Crafting Table each take a Crimson Plank, a Stick and a Crimson Plank from left to right, and the result slot then gives three Crimson Fences.

    Each placed Crimson Fence post joins neighboring fences and solid blocks automatically.

    Tie a mob

    A Lead used on a mob lets the player tie that mob to a Crimson Fence post.

Carpet trick

A carpet placed on top of Crimson Fence lets players hop over the barrier while most mobs still cannot.
